So Derek and I have been reading Habakkuk this week, and I found this interesting.
In Habakkuk 2:1, Habakkuk says
I will stand my watch
And set myself on the rampart,
And watch to see what He will say to me,
And what I will answer when I am corrected."
As I was reading, this verse stood out to me the most.
Habakkuk says that he stood watch to see what the Lord was going to say to him. He KNEW the Lord was going to speak to him and he set out to listen for it. And not only did he know that the Lord would speak to him but it says he prepared himself for his response when the Lord corrected him.
Habakkuk KNEW without a doubt the Lord was going to speak and he was going to hear from him. How much more should we expect the Lord to speak to us and correct us?
Often I find myself wondering why I don't hear from God on certain things, and I believe it's because I don't "stand my watch" and wait on what He is going to say to me, or his correction. If I don't expect him to speak, then I'm ok when I don't hear His voice, but if I ready myself and stand earnestly seeking His word for me, then I'll be ready to hear His voice when He does call out to me!
Prepare yourself to hear something from the Lord, and stand firm waiting on His word and His correction.
And sometimes we don't want to wait on the answer because we are afraid of what it might be. In those cases we often avoid the question as well.
